The amount of people joining online dating during lockdown has certainly increases. People are stuck at home and exploring the online world a lot more then they normally would have. Which means if you’re single and looking for love there are more people to chat to. If you haven’t tried exploring your dating options online what have you got to lose? Give it a try and if it’s not for you then you can easily delete your profile and go back to conventional dating after lockdown. Having successfully fell in love after meeting my Mr 6 years ago online I have a few tips to help you along the way.
Be Honest
When making your profile it’s important that you be honest about who you are. Obviously you don’t want to give them your post code and tell them all your details straight off the bat but post full length pictures, be yourself and don’t take yourself too seriously. Chat to lots of different people with varied interests and stay grounded on the fact that they will probably doing the same.
Take your time to get to know them
The beauty of online dating is you have so much more time to get to know someone. I must have shared a heap of messages with my Boo about music we loved and films we were watching. Enjoy that time chatting you can get just as giddy and excited waiting for messages to pop up as you do sitting across from each other in a pub. Don’t fall into the hole of going crazy if they aren’t constantly messaging back. It’s healthy for people to have space and take time to think about what they would like to say back and remember they are human and have a life outside of messaging. I liked the fact that I could choose when to log on and off dating sites.
Make sure you’re on the same page
A lot of dating sites give you an option to let people know what you’re looking for. Is it love or are you just teasing the waters? If you’re not Looking for anything serious and just want to find a hook up for after lockdown that fine be open about it or try specific sites for hook ups like Devon Sex or Shropshire Sex Site. Equally when chatting to people find out what they are looking for too as if you want a relationship and they just got out of a messy one they may not be the one for you. When you know you’re on the same page and you have been chatting then you can move forward.
Chat Through Voice Notes
If you’re like me once you start liking someone you’re going to be getting curious about how they sound. So many of us avoid phone calls and get put on the spot by them these days so voice notes are a great option. Of course if you prefer a call then go for it and chat to you new companion in real time Or try a voice note that leads up to a call. I find voice notes less pressure as you can send them whenever you’re free to chat and you’re not pressured into a response instantly.
Have A Video Date
If a call or voice notes go well obviously right now you can’t meet up but you can have a video date. I would suggest this even out of lockdown as it’s less pressure than an in person date and you may feel more relaxed in the comfort of your own home. Video dates can be as fancy or low key as you both want from having a brew together or even a meal. You will get a better feel or their personality and if you would like to meet up after lockdown. If you connect it also means when you do go on a date you will feel like it’s date two and will be more relaxed and carefree. Video calls also help make sure you fancy them when not in a controlled photo as it’s human nature to choose our best snaps.
