If you follow my You tube antics you may have already seen my vlog adventures at Style XL but it was so awesome and such a lot of hard work went into it that I think it totally deserves another mention.
This is the second year Style XL has run for now. I sadly missed last years which took place in the East Midlands and had lots of fabulous plus size bloggers modelling at. I totally kicked myself after seeing a ton of amazing photos and lots of people raving about the amazing time they were having. So when I heard this years would be in Birmingham I knew I had to go and even better the lovely Leah was looking for a helping hand so I put myself forward for the volunteer team. This is what I wore on the day....
Not only did I volunteer but I dragged my mama Kaos along too. She has a fantastic time and got stuck in helping organise all the models and even hunted down a full length mirror so they could make sure they looked even more awesome for the catwalk so big props to her there! I really enjoyed the new experience of working with models backstage and they were all so lovely. Mega props to Sam, Chiara, and Sian who were up for donning the most awesome of clothes. Were super friendly and positive and a dream to work with. All the models were great though and looked amazing.
There were catwalks throughout the day featuring women of all shapes and sizes showing how different a spectrum of beautiful bodies there are in the plus size community. It was truly inspiring to see beautiful clothes on such a variety of models, The men even had a go! You can see some of the catwalks in my vlog.
What else was there? I can hear you cry with excitement! Lots of shopping ....brands like Yours clothing, Curvy Kate, Clairebellas closet, Topsy Turvy , Scarlett and Jo, Nicki Rockets and many more. I think it was really nice to meet some of the brands up close rather than across the wonderful Internet. Sadly I didn't get to speak to many but the ones I did were lovely and Scarlett and Jo had people snapping up bargains left, right and centre.
The best thing about the whole of Style XL has got be the atmosphere. There were ladies squealing and hugging each other. A lovely warm buzzing atmosphere and so many amazing dresses. Again I regret not being able to talk to many people but it just shows I really want to get to know more of the plus community and give them all a huge hugs. Leah did an amazing job and I just want to say a huge thank you! Keep your eyes peeled for more news on style XL! There was also tons more fab stuff on the weekend like a model pageant and yoga but sadly I was only there for the day. If you missed my video you c an check it out here!
Did you go?
I can't thank you and your mum enough for helping out - lovely write up - hope you managed to enjoy some of it xxx
