Up-cycling Old Furniture For Modern Life

Hey Cats,

Creativity runs in the family and we are a big fan of up-cycling. Be it making new things from old things or giving old furniture a new lease of life, My talented Mother has been hard at work with some new projects and I thought she did such an amazing job that I would share them with you, You may remember when I showed you my dressing table and the amazing job she did with that, if not make sure you check out that post later.

First up was this vintage blanket box that needed updating to become a bit more modern, Here are the before pictures.

The wood was way too dark for a small space and needed lightening up and made prettier to help open up spaces and provide some much needed storage. Originally for storing spare blankets and bedding but could be used for toys or even special keep sakes safe.

Lightening the paintwork has really made this piece more in keep with any home, I am in love with the Paris poetry panels that have been added to make it a real talking point instead of just a useful bit of furniture. If I wasn't moving house I would have stole this one away for myself the lift-able lid makes it so easy to store things away and the print is just magical,

There was also another old cabinet which needed some love. Here are the before pictures.

Again really dark and going to waste but with such great storage space this piece is a fantastic addition to any home. This one had a complete over haul and a lot of love went into both of these projects but this one took the longest as it had lots of fiddly draws, nooks and craneys and fixings that needed replacing. Adding some beautiful crystal style handles to the draws and doors and that same beautiful pattern from the blanket chest was even lined in the draws.

This piece has lots of detail and storage.I think it would look beautiful in a kitchen and even came on handy wheels which were still in fantastic condition so these were cleaned up and tested but makes it easy to move around.

I am so proud of my Mama and the amazing job she did here is the final piece,

Sadly we have no room for these but they are being rehomed so if you are interested why not show my awesome mother some support. You can drop me an email and If you are feeling extra nice give them a share so I can encourage her to keep being creative!

Have you up-cycled anything recently? I would love to hear about it in the comments below.
